As the choice of colors is very important for the logo design, the choice of fonts also plays an essential part in the success of a logo. Many people think a font is just a font, and they choose a font simply because they like it. As we can get feelings from colors, however, we can also get feelings from fonts too.

Different fonts convey different meanings, therefore, it is wise to spend some careful time on choosing a right font for your logo design.

There are generally 4 groups of fonts: serif, sans-serif, script, and decorative.

1) Serif and sans-serif fonts

Serifs are non-structural details on the ends of some of the strokes that make up letters and symbols. A font that has serifs is called 'serif font', while a font without serifs is called 'sans-serif font'. Usually words with serif font are easier to read in print, but it is harder to recognize when the size is small on the monitor. In this case, therefore, it is recommended to use sans-serif font since it doesn't have the embellishments at the end of each stroke.

2) Script fonts

A script font, as the name implies, looks like handwriting, which conveys an elegant feeling, You may find that script fonts are widely used on purfume bottles or wedding companies.

3) Decorative fonts

A decorative font entertains your eyes. They are fun and attractive. You can find them on products for children, entertainment companies etc.

A careful choice for fonts is very important, because fonts display emotions and bridge communications with the onlookers. If you are running a financial company, you need to choose a font that brings a thick and squared looks so that it makes your logo design communicate stability and security to your target clients and build confidence and trust even before they try.

A marketing business, for example, needs to choose a font that gives creative, trendy, and outgoing impression.
