Well when I get that question I know already what the problem is. The problem is that you are asking the wrong question. This is a delight to many of the well established marketers. The question should be how do I attract the right traffic? The only reason you want to generate more traffic is because you are not targeting the right traffic.
When you place this question out there, all you are going to get is offers to buy leads, Ebooks, or other opportunities which claim to have resolved this problem. There are list build programs and referral programs to. After you spend a fortune, you'll find out, you are no better off then you were before.
You have to do something that not too many people do to generate more traffic. You have to think. The first thing is what are you selling? Is your product or service in demand? If you are an affiliate and you choose a product that is not moving then it could be that you choose the wrong product.
No demand equals no traffic.
If your product or service is in demand, what type of traffic are you getting and where is it coming from? If you are getting traffic but you are not getting sales, then something is wrong with your promotional activities. It could be that you are sending the right message but to the wrong people. That is why you must test all your ads until you get it right. If you are not getting any results you are sending out the wrong message. It could be the right people but the wrong message.
The other thing you must think about is if you are buying leads from people. Most of the time the leads are trash especially when they are cheap. I recall one time buying 100,000 leads and what I got was kids. I had 14 years olds telling me to stop emailing them out of the auto-responder. You want to generate more traffic through a natural means. To get quality traffic you need to have a complete strategy of how you will accomplish this.
I know you are in shock. I said the "S" word, strategy. Just take a more involved look at this. Strategy, start with what you are selling and who is for? Once you know what your market is, then you can start on a campaign, to target that market. You won't generate high quality traffic without knowing how to target your market.
Let me also warn you, if you believe that you can just buy your way through everything, you need to quit right now. One of the reason's people don't generate sufficient traffic is because they are totally impatient, so they think they can buy their way through anything. Well not online, you could buy yourself into an excellent opportunity where everything is provided, but if the opportunity fails in latter years, then you are stuck. Having things go in automatic pilot is fine only if you understand and know the complete concept behind the tools that were provided to you.
Now that you know who your target market is, then you need to build your strategic plan. The question comes to mind immediately where would my target market be hanging out? A quick example is vitamins your market is all those people who subscribe to health groups. I am sure if you start to think along these lines you will find the right market for your product or service rather quickly. Planning takes time, so patience is key.
Now you have to start thinking about your approach. How will you get in front of these people and get them to your website and or landing page. So just think about this a while. Where should I place my ads? It is obvious it would be in the health and fitness areas. The next question is what other advertising tools could I use? Well there are paid ads, free ads, directories, forums, Blogs, and countless other promotional activities that you could engage in.
Another major point I need to make is that you must learn how to create killer copy. You need to study about how to do this, because if you don't know how to write effective copy, then even if you reach the right people, you got the message wrong. Wrong message equals no quality traffic or no traffic at all.
Part of your planning is what you are going to do on a daily basis. How much time are you going to spend on getting your ads out or on other campaign activities? If you spend too much time on one activity and not enough on the other then you might be sabotaging your own efforts. It is also crucial that you have uniformity in your efforts, a theme per se. When you launch a campaign it should have a common thread. You campaign has to solve some problem that people have that your product or service resolves.
To review, generating high quality traffic, you must have a strategy, it must be uniform. The market must be highly targeted with the right message to the right public. You must learn to write killer copy that addresses the right problems that your product or service fulfills.
