WordPress truly is state of the art platform for bloggers looking to increase their search engine position and readership.

There are many bloggers that are unaware that WordPress offers a unique tool that allows them to automatically notify blog directories and search engines that their blog has been updated.

In this article we will look at how to configure a WordPress blog to do just that.

How to Configure WordPress to ping

1. Login to your WordPress Blog http://www.your-domain.com/wp-admin

2. Select "Options" from the top menu in the Dashboard.

3. Select "Writing" from the sub-menu.

4. Scroll down to the last option on the page until you see the heading "Update Services."

This is where you can add Technorati, Ping-o-Matic, Blogflux, Icerocket, Googles Blogsearch, My Yahoo and other services by simply adding a new line within the Update Services text box.

Tip: Be sure to add each one on a different line by hitting enter after each URL

By default WordPress already includes Ping-o-Matic in the "Update Services text box." http://rpc.pingomatic.com

However, its recommend that you ping Technorati directly for better results by adding their RPC URL to the Update Services text box.
