More widespread than people know is Google Proxy Hacking. This is a technique to have de-listed any web page on the internet with serious consequences for traffic and revenue.

If a web site owner finds their traffic to certain pages is drastically reduced from normal, they should visit Google Webmaster Central to check how their web pages are being indexed.

Brad Fallon, the 'My Wedding Favors' web site owner had a serious problem about a year ago. No traffic came to his home page and he called in an expert to find out why.

The expert found that the home page was not any longer indexed in Google, hence no traffic from the search engine. What he found was that there was a duplicate page on a server connected through from a proxy server somewhere on the internet and Googlebot had found a link to this page and cached it.

All traffic went to this proxy hacked page and not to Brad Fallon's home page which got de-listed by Google because it was deemed a duplicate page.

This could happen to millions of web pages out there on the internet. Google have known about this hack for over a year and still the problem persists as I found out this week. One of my pages got proxy hacked and not only was it a duplicate but the contents on the page had changed. This page is still not listed in Google.

To document this I have done screen captures and compiled a pdf ebook with a lot more detail to warn other web site owners about this. The link is at the bottom of my home page for free download.

With the amount of highly qualified technicians and engineers Google employ, it seems they are no closer to closing this loophole.
